LONDON --Shares ofBanco Santander (LSE: BNC ) (NYSE: SAN ) dropped 7 pence to 469 pence during early London trade this morning despite the bank saying it expected to maintain its dividend at 0.60 euros per share for 2013.
The planned payment would equal that paid by Santander every year since 2009 and would support a potential 11% yield at the current 1 pound: 1.18 euro exchange rate.
The dividend announcement accompanied Santander's first-quarter results, which showed revenues down 9% to 10.3 billion euros and pre-provision profits down 15% to 5.3 billion euros.
Provisions during January, February, and March came to 2.9 billion euros, some 6% less than that recorded during the first quarter of 2012 and the lowest level of write-offs seen since the fourth quarter of 2011.
The bank also noted that the quarter's net earnings of 1.2 billion euros represented 53% of the figure disclosed for the whole of 2012.
On a pre-provision basis, Santander's U.K. profits tumbled 24% to 486 million euros. However, the bank did say its 1|2|3 current account had attracted 1.7 million customers since the product's launch a year ago.

The company is facing headwinds in the broader economy. This can be seen in declining sales in many areas of their business. Regionally, the U.S was flat; Northern Europe was up; Southern Europe was down; and emerging markets were down. Autodesk also lowered quarterly and yearly revenue expectations. This lowering of guidance by Autodesk also matches the same guidance changes made by competitors Parametric Technology (PMTC) and ANSYS (ANSS), so it is not necessarily losing out to its rivals in this case.

Gafisa (GFA) is a homebuilder in Brazil. This stock closed up 5% to $3.13 in Tuesday's trading session.
Tuesday's Range: $2.97-$3.15
52-Week Range: $2.22-$5.24
Tuesday's Volume: 1.70 million
Three-Month Average Volume: 1.77 million
From a technical perspective, GFA ripped higher here right above some near-term support at $2.80 with decent upside volume. This stock has been uptrending strong for the last month, with shares moving higher from its low of $2.27 to its intraday high of $3.15. During that move, shares of GFA have been consistently making higher lows and higher highs, which is bullish technical price action. That move has now pushed shares of GFA within range of triggering a big breakout trade. That trade will hit if GFA manages to take out Tuesday's high of $3.15 to some past resistance at $3.30 with high volume.
Traders should now look for long-biased trades in GFA as long as it's trending above support at $2.80 and then once it sustains a move or close above those breakout levels with volume that hits near or above 1.77 million shares. If that breakout triggers soon, then GFA will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance levels at its 200-day moving average of $3.68 to more resistance at $4.20 to $4.70.

Calling all cash flows
When you are trying to buy the market's best stocks, it's worth checking up on your companies' free cash flow once a quarter or so, to see whether it bears any relationship to the net income in the headlines. It doesn't matter if the bank is a mega bank like Bank of America (NYSE: BAC ) , a regional player like BB&T (NYSE: BBT ) , or a third-party software provider like Jack Henry and Associates (NASDAQ: JKHY ) , the capabilities and usability of online banking services are noticeably stuck in the mud.

Margins matter. The more Jack Henry & Associates (Nasdaq: JKHY ) keeps of each buck it earns in revenue, the more money it has to invest in growth, fund new strategic plans, or (gasp!) distribute to shareholders. Healthy margins often separate pretenders from the best stocks in the market. That's why we check up on margins at least once a quarter in this series. I'm looking for the absolute numbers, so I can compare them to current and potential competitors, and any trend that may tell me how strong Jack Henry & Associates's competitive position could be.
